Recreational Strategies and Innovative Performance of Micro and Small-Scale Enterprises in Ondo State, Nigeria
Recreation has been cited as one of the therapeutic interventions for restoring mental and physical energy lost during hard work or stressful daily tasks. Its ability to boost both physical and emotional vitality for improved performance in organisations has necessitated this research. The objective of this research was to investigate the effect(s) of recreational strategies on the innovative performance of micro and small-scale businesses in Ondo State. This study adopted quantitative research design, and multistage sampling technique was used in selecting respondents from nine local Government headquarters distributed across the three senatorial districts of Ondo State. Primary data were collected from 324 respondents using self-administered structured questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. To test the stated hypothesis and achieve the stated objective, regression analyses were used. Findings from the study showed that recreation had a significant and positive effect on the innovative performance of the micro and small-scale enterprises examined in the study area. The study concluded that recreational strategies could be used to improve organizational performance of micro and small-scale enterprises. It is therefore recommended that organisations should focus on the management of recreational activities and other aspects of life to enhance performance in the micro and small-scale enterprises.
