Evaluating the Influence of Entrepreneurial Resilience on Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs in Ile-Ife Osun State Nigeria
Women in Nigeria continue to face significant socio economic barriers, including higher unemployment, overrepresentation in low wage jobs, and limited access to managerial, entrepreneurial, and leadership positions. To this end, this study evaluated the influence of entrepreneurial resilience on the empowerment of women entrepreneurs in Ile Ife, Ife Central Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Osun State, Nigeria, using a survey design. The study population comprised one hundred and eighty (180) entrepreneurs, who had benefited from entrepreneurship empowerment programmes and sustained their businesses, while a sample of one hundred and fifty (150), representing 83.3% of the population, was used for the study. A purposive sampling technique and self constructed questionnaire were adopted. Descriptive statistics and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) analysis were employed in the study. The results revealed that entrepreneurial resilience significantly influenced the empowerment of women entrepreneurs (R = 0.221; R2 = 0.49; F(1,148) = 7.573) at 0.05 level of significance. The study concluded that the extent of influence of entrepreneurial resilience on empowerment of women entrepreneur was marginal and significant, therefore, it was recommended that there is need for policymakers and state government to foster a strong link between women entrepreneurial resilience and a more equitable business environment that would support the implementation of targeted intervention programmes through business skills, workshops, continuous training and emotional intelligence in order to strengthen women's entrepreneurial competence, adaptability and to support their growth within the economy.
