ABSTRACT Employees’ promotion is one of the major functions and components of human resource management. It entails advancement, elevation and upgrade from a lower position to a higher one. This paper has examined employees’ promotion and productivity in Federal University Wukari (FUW). The study utilized a mixed method research design and as such, the data of the study were generated from array of both published and unpublished materials such as books, journals, internet materials, among many others. Questionnaire was the major instrument of data collection. Krejcie and Morgan table was used to determine the sample size. Bourley Formula was used to distribute the sample size to their natural cluster. Cronbach Alfa Co-efficient was used to determine reliability test and it was found at 0.7. Table, percentage and frequency count were used for data presentation. T-test was used to test the formulated hypotheses of the study. The study found that employees’ promotion is not a strong correlate of productivity. The study also found that affects promotion practices in the university has no significant relationship to productivity. The study therefore recommends that the exercise should be flexible, possesses characteristics like enhancement, has semblance with other universities, among many others.
